良善涼扇

最近天氣熱得不像話, 只能找風來幫忙. 別想說要吹冷氣, 傷身老來你就知.

記得小時候, 看阿公拿著一柄木扇子, 醜歸醜, 扇啊扇, 很是涼快. 想說如果有自己的一把扇子, 專屬的, 唯一的, 該是很酷的. 那木扇子, 其實就是檳榔葉做的.

那天去客家庒, 經過一片檳榔園, 就撿了幾片葉子, 取了包在幹上的部份, 準備做自己的專屬扇. 謝謝阿婆的刀子, 否則你會看到一個人拖著幾片檳榔葉在路上騎單車.

用水把包葉浸泡著, 用重物壓平. 再取出擦乾, 裁出形扇子的形狀, 當然是葉柄最厚的部份為中心線, 左右對稱裁好才美觀, 這是常識.

然後持續用重物壓平等扇子乾燥, 就成功了. 如果沒有壓平, 扇子在乾燥的過程會捲曲. 日曬或風乾都可以, 如果失敗了, 可以再浸水, 重新乾燥.

要注意的是, 橫向部份, 因葉子皺摺在浸水過程, 吸收水份會變平變寬, 所以在乾燥過程會有橫向縮水的現象. 形狀剪裁時可以考量剪寬些. 直向倒無此一現象.

另直向的部份會有些微的彎曲, 這不影響取風, 反而是自然素材的特徵, 更添美感.

當然也可以加上彩繪, 題字等等, 或保留原味, 看個人喜歡啦.
